Langi Langi Beach "Bungalows"

We have known Langi Langi for many years and have seen it develop in to what we think is one of the premier hotels in Nungwi.

Location - In the heart of the interesting fishing village of Nungwi at the very north of the island about 1 hour from Stone Town and the Airport.

Accommodation - There are 35 rooms in a variety of categories. All rooms are en-suite, have air-conditioning, ceiling fans, mosquito nets, fridge, telephone and safe deposit box. There are 15 Garden View Rooms which are compact, have small balconies and are ideal for people on a limited budget. The 7 Pool View Rooms look over the swimming pool and lush tropical gardens. There is a recent addition of sea facing rooms/suites, all with direct sea views and furniture and fittings which rival some of the best and most expensive hotels on Zanzibar. There are 5 Sea View Rooms, 3 Junior Suites and 5 Royal Zanzibari Suites of exceptionally generous size.

Facilities - The good size swimming pool is set in the lush tropical gardens. The Marhaba Restaurant has one of the prime locations in Nungwi, if not Zanzibar, built on a deck over the beach/ocean where the dhows and fishing boats glide past. Traditional Zanzibari food is served, with an emphasis on fresh seafood. The Marhaba Café serves fresh coffees, teas and pastries. There is a massage deck, internet café, money change facility and full office service facility. A novel touch is that "Sele", the amiable Manager of Langi Langi conducts cooking classes using locally produce and local dishes.

Flame Tree Cottages

This gem of individually designed guest cottages is owned and managed by Seif and Elizabeth Miskry (Zanzibari/Scottish couple) who are perfect hosts and are well supported by their obliging staff.

The generous sized rooms are pristine, with white tiled floors, traditional furnishings, mosquito nets, built-in wardrobes and are airconditioned. One cottage is ideal for a family, or small group, as it has 2 separate bedrooms with a common sitting room/kitchenette. There is also a Honeymoon Suite.

Facilities - Breakfast is either served on the verandah of guests' rooms or in the dining area overlooking the gardens. Evening meals are generally served al-fresco at candle lit tables near the ocean. Flame Tree is close enough to several lively bars/restaurants to take advantage of what these offer, yet you can retreat to the peace and quiet of the Cottages. Seif & Elizabeth have their own mashua (small local dhow) and organise snorkelling trips with picnic lunch to Mnemba Atoll and Kendwa, deep sea fishing, line fishing and the ever popular sunset sail. Scuba diving can be arranged with East Africa Dive Centre just 3 minutes walk away.
